CD and DVD Packaging

CHALLENGE

The HR Project celebrates the life and legacy of Howard Roberts (or “HR”), the legendary Hollywood studio guitar session player who was at one time considered “The Most Frequently Heard Guitar Player in the World”… and who pioneered Guitar education for scores of aspiring musicians in his later years. The project consists of a CD of HR’s original tunes re-recorded by 20 of his world-class colleagues in collaboration with his son Jay Roberts, who is a phenomenal player and educator in his own right. In addition, Jay documented the fascinating life and career of his late father with “HR’s Story” available on DVD. This was a challenge like no other, as Howard’s story was relatively unknown to the general public.

SOLUTION

We had the honor and privilege of Branding the project, as well as designing the CD and DVD packaging. Based upon our market research, we chose a sophisticated yet approachable look and feel to reflect audience taste. Also included were several striking historical photos and present day studio shots to illustrate the “then and now” aspect of the project. The CD Package is a 6-Panel Digipack with 24 page Booklet that showcases the stories behind each tune, and each contributing musician, and how Howard touched each of their lives. The DVD packaging is consistently branded to accompany the CD as a larger package, exclusively for project contributors.

RESULT

The client was very pleased with the final product, and so were the fans! It was brought to our attention on several occasions how long people have waited to hear the story of Howard Roberts, and we were honored to be a part of this long awaited project! Watch the Project Trailer HERE!
